Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions will I need?
Until your first session, aka the intake session, has been completed, it is nearly impossible put a number on it. After all of the data has been processed, Kate can develop a plan that is appropriate for your goals.
Where do sessions take place?
Preferably, sessions occur in Kate’s cozy cottage near TCU in Fort Worth. The occasional virtual session/check-in may be scheduled after a partnership has been established.
What do I bring to a session?
For the first session, bring yourself, any favorite supplies, your organizational system, and a laptop. If you are beginning to work with Kate during the school year, bring your backpack!
What are the rates of Kate’s services?
Individual sessions start at $60 per hour. Bootcamps start at $250 per camp.
Individual sessions following the purchase of a boot camp will begin at $40 instead of $60.
How many students can be in one boot camp?
Kate feels like 4-5 students create the best group dynamic possible. This number allows for sharing, brainstorming, commiserating, in a supportive vibe which ultimately results in universality, because…NO. You are not the only one struggling and/or with questions.
Can I attend a boot camp with my friends?
If your friends all share similar goals or a similar educational phase (school division or grade), then SURE!
Honestly, when you have a built in accountability system, success is undoubtedly going to grow there.
Can I bring a snack to my session?
Of course! Being properly fueled is essential to having a good session. As long as your snack is okay with your parents and you throw your trash away, it’s cool.
Will Kate travel for coaching?
Kate is open to any discussion regarding meeting students’ needs.
Did you say you needed Academic Coaching sessions in Bora Bora?
Is Academic Coaching the same as Tutoring?
While some people consider them to be very similar, Kate thinks otherwise. Academic Coaching is a larger umbrella with offshoots such as specific learning, organization, communication, self-advocacy, self-confidence, and self-care management. Tutoring is just another one of these smaller categories and involves diving into one subject at a time.
Will Kate help me study or work on a paper?
Absolutely! After learning as much as she can about the way your brain works, Kate will apply strategies for you to truly understand the material. For writing assignments, Kate excels in the organization of information and can help you create a rock-solid foundation. She also LOVES editing. And yes, you can totally make fun of her for that.
Can’t we just go see the Learning Specialist at our school?
You most definitely should establish a relationship with them! They are experienced in specific learning and classroom/exam accommodations and do try to implement a large portion of what Kate also does. However, these professionals have much larger caseloads, less time with each student, and more hurdles through which to jump. Kate has tremendous flexibility and can truly customize efforts to meet your student’s needs.
Does Kate text or do we have to use email?
She loves texting. For quick responses, this is the best way to communicate.
For more detailed information, it is best to email and/or schedule a phone consultation.
